How is it different from a brow pencil or gel?

Traditional brow pencils are designed to fill in sparse areas with precise strokes, while brow gels hold hairs in place. The Backcombing Texture Stick does something entirely different—it creates texture. Using the Backcombing Technique™, it adds friction at the root to lift, separate, and expand the appearance of each brow hair, creating soft, airy fullness before you ever reach for a gel. The sheer tint subtly enhances depth and definition without drawing on individual hairs or creating heavy blocks of color. Think of it as the missing first step to naturally fuller-looking brows.

How do I sharpen it?

The Backcombing Texture Stick is designed to be sharpened with a cosmetic sharpener made for larger-format pencils. For the cleanest results, rotate the pencil gently rather than applying heavy pressure. Because the formula is soft and texture-rich, we recommend sharpening only when needed to maintain its rounded tip. For best results, use the KS&CO® Duo Pencil Sharpener, specially designed to create the ideal point while minimizing product waste.

Which shade should I choose?

Medium Brown is a neutral, slightly cool brown that works beautifully for most hair colors—including blondes, soft brunettes, redheads, and those with gray hair. Dark Brown is a rich, deep brown that borders on soft black, making it ideal for dark brown to black hair. If you’re between shades, we generally recommend choosing Medium Brown for the most natural, soft-looking result.

When should I use it in my routine?

The Backcombing Texture Stick is designed to create lift, texture, and fullness as part of your brow routine.  

If you’re using it with the Microfeathering® Brow Pen:

Fill any sparse areas with the Microfeathering® Brow Pen using light, hair-like strokes.
Backcomb the Backcombing Texture Stick through your brows, brushing against the direction of hair growth to build lift, separation, and airy fullness.
Brush and shape your brows into place with a spoolie.
Finish with either the Sheer Tinted Brow Gel for added color and soft hold or the Clear Strong-Hold Brow Gel for maximum lift and all-day hold.

Together, the products create naturally fuller, lifted, and beautifully textured brows without looking stiff or overdone.

Absolutely. In fact, they’re designed to work together.  

The Backcombing Texture Stick creates lift, texture, and natural-looking fullness by adding subtle grip and separation to the brow hairs. After brushing your brows into place, finish with a brow gel to lock in your shape and extend wear throughout the day. 

Sheer Tinted Brow Gel adds soft color, definition, and flexible hold.
Clear Strong-Hold Brow Gel provides maximum lift and all-day hold while maintaining a natural finish.

Using the Texture Stick first and brow gel second gives you the fullest, fluffiest, and longest-lasting result.
